Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships
Women have made great strides in the pursuit of education, careers and leadership roles they were once denied; however, today, women are still more likely to be pouring the coffee in global boardrooms than sitting on the boards. In 2012, women held only 18.1% of the senior officer positions at Financial Post 500 companies and 6.9 % of senior officer top earner positions at public companies according to the 2012 Catalyst Census. The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship program helps women pursue undergraduate and master's degrees in business management and overcome gender barriers from the classroom to the boardroom. Since the programs inception, Zonta has awarded 314 scholarships to women from 44 countries.
Established in 1998 from a generous bequest by Jane M. Klausman, a member of the Zonta Club of Syracuse, New York, the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship is awarded annually to women pursuing undergraduate or Master's degrees in business management.
Several District 12 clubs award scholarships, and club winners will be entered to win two scholarships totaling $1,500 ($500 from District 12 and $1,000 from Zonta International) awarded at the district level and one of 12 international scholarships in the amount of $7000 each. The scholarships may be used for tuition, books, or living expenses at any university, college, or institution offering accredited business courses and degrees.
Eligibility: Women pursuing a business or business-related degree who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field are eligible. Online students are also eligible. Members and employees of Zonta International or the Zonta International Foundation are not eligible.

Currently not all District 12 Clubs participate in these scholarship programs. District 12 Zonta Clubs are encouraged to appoint a Club Scholarship Committee, whose members can approach school officials directly in their own community or in nearby areas where there are no Zonta Clubs. If a Club receives an inquiry but does not participate in these scholarship programs, it should refer the applicant to a nearby club that does. Let's enable students from the communities within District 12 to be in the running for these awards, scholarships, & fellowships, and let's get the word out about these great Zonta programs.
