Each year it is the honor and responsibility of the previous year Zontian on the Year to select the next woman who best deserves this distinction. Zontian of the Year is the woman who best embodies the ideals of Zonta within her activities with Zonta Club of Laramie. This year the task fell to Deedee Boysen. Deedee began her search by inviting the entire club to offer nominations. Deedee stated that many nominating testimonies arrived in her email and at first she wondered if this would be a difficult task to narrow down to the best of the best. However, as she began to read the various testimonials, she stated that her decision about who would become the next Zontian of the Year became to be a very clear one.

At the April meeting , Deedee began to describe the Zontian of the Year. It was very quickly evident who Deedee was describing. As soon as she mentioned that the new Zonta of the Year had served in capacities of being chair of Suited for Success and assistant treasurer , followed by treasurer, everyone in the room had smiles knowing that the soon to be announced award winner would be Tasha Bauman.

In writing this article, Deedee was asked for a reflection about Tasha. "I have known Tasha since she joined the club and have watched her growth as a leader and a contributor. I couldn't possibly be more impressed or grateful. She is a strong leader, leading by her own example, and is a member who can always be counted on to follow through and provide exactly what is needed. She is professional to the core. I believe Tasha has "Zonta heart" and serves as an inspiration to all Zontians. Truly, she embodies the spirit of Zonta and its mission to advance the status of women globally and locally."

Tasha's history with Zonta began in December 2007 when Jeffe Kennedy brought her to a Zonta OMC event in which the various Zonta activities were demonstrated. Tasha said that when she saw that Zonta of Laramie is active in Suited for Success, Rose Day, and Birthing Kits she was sold on the organization. When pressed for what is Tasha's favorite activity within Zonta, Tasha stated, "I really like all of it".

Tasha joined Zonta in early 2008 and has been involved in many of the activities. She has chaired Suited for Success, has been on the PR and OMC committees, has done Highway Cleanup, been involved on the Style Show committee , Rose Day committee and has served as assistant treasurer and treasurer.

After spending her childhood in Lyman, Tasha moved to Laramie in 2004 to attend University of Wyoming. She had a double major of criminal justice and chemistry. Her internship for chemistry was at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. On her graduation day from UW, she received an offer for a job in that program. Her current official job title is Senior Laboratory Scientist Forensic Analyst.

Tasha is married to Greg. They are still newlyweds about to celebrate their 2 year anniversary on June 20. They have two tiny fur-babies, Nibbler and Dash (dachsunds) .

Although Tasha is very active in Zonta, she also serves in another major organization as well. She is currently the international Communications Chair for the Society of Wildlife and Forensic Science.

Congratulations Tasha on being selected as the Zontian of the Year.
