Hosts Successful Trivia Event
On the evening of April 2, 21 teams gathered confidently in Kirk Hall at
the Douglas County Fairgrounds to compete in the 7th Annual Trivia Event
hosted by the Zonta Club of Douglas County (zontadistrict12.org/Douglas).
After 10 rounds of challenging trivia questions on topics that ranged from
sports stats to Colorado facts, the “And The Winner Is…” team (Marsha
Alston, Joe Crenshaw, Larry and Sherry Monroe, Carla Turner and Randy
Prince) emerged as the overall winner—receiving a $400 prize. Second
place with a $200 prize went to the Zonta Club of Boulder and third place
with a $100 prize went to “Women Running with Scissors”.
Major sponsors for the Trivia Event were Angie’s (which provided dinner
for team members) and 1st Bank of Douglas County. Reggie Rivers, media
personality and former Denver Broncos player, served as emcee for the
event.
“We couldn’t have had such as a successful event without the generous
support of our sponsors,” says Judy Crenshaw, Trivia Event
Chair. “Team members enjoyed a delicious dinner, beverages and snacks,
chocolate fountain, silent and live auction items—all donated by our many
community sponsors.”
Proceeds from Zonta’s Annual Trivia Event are used for local community
service organizations to help women in need. Past recipients have
included the Women’s Crisis and Family Outreach Center, Douglas/Elbert
County Task Force, Project Cure, local scholarships, Polaris Project,
WINGs, Douglas County Law Enforcement Centers for victim kits, and Zonta
International Service projects.
